ROLE SUMMARY

The Pfizer Rare Disease Research Unit is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to lead a project on the role of non-coding RNA in neurobiology and neurological disease. The scope of this project will leverage state of the art technology, collaboration with internal experts, and drive future directions of therapeutic development. This opportunity will provide the Postdoctoral Fellow a highly visible research project with impact both internally in Pfizer, and broadly through publication.

With over three decades of experience in rare disease, our broad global rare disease portfolio aims to address the unmet medical needs across a number of therapeutic areas, including hematology, neurology, endocrinology, cardiology, and inherited metabolic diseases.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct independent research in non-coding RNA biology, perform experiments, analyze data, and describe findings at internal and external events and in submitted publications

Proactively identify new research directions and testable hypotheses, taking full advantage of Pfizer internal knowledge and resources.

Contribute intellectually to the wider group of the Pfizer Rare Disease Research Unit

QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Recent PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, or related discipline with a minimum of 1 high quality first-author publication(s) is required.

An in-depth understanding of RNA biology

Significant molecular biology experience including expertise in cell culture technique, immortalized cell lines and iPSCs, molecular cloning, in vitro knockdown strategies (CRISPR, siRNA), and quantitative PCR.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience generating and analyzing RNA sequencing data, including single cell

Technical expertise in non-coding RNA biology

Experience working with human iPSC derived neurons


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a BSL-2 laboratory

Standard business office conditions.
