Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept
The School of Music & Theater exists to provide professional training and liberal-arts based education to a highly diverse student body in the areas of performance, conducting, jazz studies, music technology, music education, composition and theater arts. In addition, the School provides general training in music and theater where students study theory, history, literature, pedagogy, composition, improvisation, music technology, ethnomusicology, acting, theatrical production and writing. Framed by the University’s motto, “Let Knowledge Serve the City ” the School of Music & Theater offers a wide spectrum of activities by students, faculty, and guest artists which enhances the artistic and cultural life of the city of Portland.

Position Summary
The Marketing Coordinator will grow the School of Music & Theater (SOMT) brand and prepare and oversee the design and development of print materials, preparation of copy for electronic communications to students, donors, alumni, and the general public; maintain the SOMT website; and work with SOMT and College of the Arts (COTA) staff to strategize marketing opportunities for increasing enrollment and retention, as well as attendance for SOMT performances and events. This position requires a creative, enterprising professional, adept at traditional and social media and publicity who can undertake assigned projects from set-up to completion with minimal guidance.


Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Three years of office experience which included two years at full performance level and experience generating documents; AND
- Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education;
- Experience with Banner FIS and SIS;
- Ability to multitask and prioritize duties;
- Skilled at managing complex files and admissions processes
- Demonstrated attention to detail;
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to customer service;
- Experience marketing for performing arts

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.

The starting annual salary for this position will be $45,560 but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
