Job Description

We seek a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to fulfill a critical role in the uveal melanoma research program as a part of melanoma medical oncology research. This work is focused on developing new therapeutic strategies for metastatic uveal melanoma. Uveal melanoma is a rare subtype of melanoma with high propensity to metastasize in liver (>95%) and very poor prognosis for metastatic patients. There is currently only one FDA approved therapeutic option. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop novel therapeutic strategies for metastatic uveal melanoma. Recently, we have identified metabolic vulnerabilities of metastatic uveal melanoma and observed promising response to metabolic inhibition. Now we want to develop durable, sustainable combination therapy strategies based on this. The candidate will gain experience working closely with experts in various techniques including standard molecular biology techniques, proteomics, metabolomics, multiple mouse models for melanoma, different mouse surgery techniques and mammalian cell culture, Beyond the work at MD Anderson, the candidate will have extensive opportunities to learn from and network with accomplished scientists and clinicians from our collaborative institutions, including those at the Texas Medical Center.

The primary research focus is to develop new therapeutic strategies for metastatic uveal melanoma.

Individuals with a PhD degree in biochemistry, cancer biology, molecular biology, genetics, or related fields. A strong background in pre-clinical translational research and/or genomics is required. Experience with computational biology techniques and high-performance computing environments is desired. Candidate should have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. Proven track record of publications, excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

The appointment is immediately available. Appointee is expected to work forty hours per week.

This position reports to Dr. Chandrani Chattopadhyay in Melanoma Medical Oncology department.

Stipend support will follow the NIH Kirschstein-NRSA stipend levels level for the appropriate PGY.

Interested applicants should send a Cover Letter specifying past research experience/skills/accomplishments, a Curriculum Vitae and the contact information of three (3) Referees to Dr. Chandrani Chattopadhyay ([email protected]) with the subject line “Postdoctoral Fellow - Application – Applicant’s Name”.
