The University of Oklahoma Libraries seeks to recruit a new Content Strategist. The Content Strategist will work under the direction of the University Libraries Director of Marketing and Communications with internal and external stakeholders to develop written materials for print and digital to advance the strategic initiatives of the Libraries. 

This position must be highly skilled in writing for multiple platforms, including print and promotional materials, websites and other digital platforms, and social media. The successful candidate will be able to research, gather information, and interview relevant individuals, as well as synthesize complex information to discern compelling stories and detail. This individual must be able to complete multiple writing tasks in a timely manner. This position will require independent work and initiative, as well as the ability to work with various audiences and creatives to fulfill job duties. 

Ability to work in a team to create multimedia content is a plus.  

This is a 5-year renewable term position.  The position will be evaluated on an annual basis.

Job Requirements

Required Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications or related field.

Equivalency/Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor¿s degree.

 

Skills: 

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds in a respectful, equitable and inclusive way.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Navigating social situations with skill and diplomacy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office platforms (Word, Excel, and others).
  • Proficiency with AP style and other relevant style guides.
  • Past experience writing for both print and digital.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadline.
  • Strong organization skills and work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal direction.

Advertised Physical Requirements:  

  • Ability to engage in repetitive motions. Standard office environment.  Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.

Department Preferences:

  • Master's degree in relevant field.
  • 24 to 36 months of professional experience in a communications field.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, photography, graphic design, and/or graphic design.
  • Exceptional proofreading and copy editing skills.
