The University of Oklahoma Libraries seeks to recruit a Library Web Developer.  Working as a member of the Digital Strategies & Innovation division, the Library Web Developer contributes to the development and maintenance of 12 websites, including libraries.ou.edu, which supports 1.4 million visits per year from users with a wide variety of information and research needs, and provides access to many of the core research tools used on campus. 
 
This position may have the ability to work partially or fully remote pending university administration approvals.

Job Requirements

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree, AND:   

  • 48 months of experience as a Web Developer or related field

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor¿s Degree for a total of 96 months related experience

 

Skills:

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds in a respectful, equitable and inclusive way.
  • Experience with full-stack web application design, development, and maintenance.
  • Experience in using git/version control.
  • Knowledge of basic Linux commands.
  • Demonstrated experience developing websites using HTML5, JavaScript, CSS.
  • Deep knowledge of user-centered design processes and methodologies.
  • Understanding of mobile design UX/UI.
  • Demonstrated experience in Web Accessibility Standards.
  • Knowledge of responsive design principles.
  • Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.
  • Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to effectively communicate with end-users of varying technological backgrounds.
  • Experience using website analytics tools to create meaningful reports.
  • Ability to develop unique web-based tools customized to meet the needs of University Libraries’ users and staff.

  • Ability to use a computer daily

Department Preferences:

  • Experience with the Drupal web content management framework including the following:
    • Development workflow
    • Configuration management
    • Theming
    • Module development
  • Experience with the SaaS platform Pantheon.
  • Experience with composer dependency manager for PHP.
  • Experience with PHP template engines like Twig, Smarty, Mustache, Blade, etc.
  • Experience with or evidence of understanding academic libraries and their users.
  • Experience with web development utilizing PHP and/or Python.
  • Working knowledge of LAMP stacks and their related tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of ADA, WCAG 2.1 AA, and Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Experience with Google Analytics.
