The University of Oklahoma Libraries’ Director of Finance and Human Resources manages all aspects of library financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and purchasing. The director leads and participates in account reconciliation, financial report preparation, financial data analysis and forecasting.  In the human resource area, the position oversees all personnel actions and activities for faculty, staff, graduate assistants and student employees including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, performance evaluations, travel requests and employee reimbursements.  In addition, this position handles a variety of special assignments and projects for the library administration.

The Director of Finance and Human Resources is responsible for maintaining a complete understanding of relevant university policies and procedures, and developing and updating internal procedures and internal controls that ensure compliance with federal, state, university, and regent policy.  

This position comes with an option for up to two days of remote work per week.

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Management, or related field, AND

  • 48 months experience in office management, financial management, or related experience.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 96 months related experience.
 

Skills: 

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds in a respectful, equitable and inclusive way.
  • Accounting or financial experience including processing, reconciling, reporting and forecasting.
  • Experience supervising financial and human resource personnel.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate high-level communication with variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial accounting systems.
  • Strong mathematical skills and analytical ability.
  • Advanced skills in Excel with ability to prepare data driven reports, charts, and graphs.
  • Strong technology skills using a variety of operating systems.
  • Detail attentive with ability to develop accurate reports and information for high-level stakeholders.
  • Outstanding oral and writing skills with ability to create written procedures and guidelines.
  • Experience leading meetings and delivering reports and presentations to library senior leadership.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills in order to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects.
  • Team building and customer service experience.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods; ability to communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; ability to use computer daily. 

Department Preferences:

  • Accounting degree, MBA and/or CPA
  • 5 years or more of financial, accounting and budgeting experience in an academic setting
  • 5 years or more directly supervising employees with financial and personnel/payroll responsibilities
  • Experience using QuickBooks or similar financial accounting systems
  • Experience working with OU financial, travel, personnel and hiring systems including PeopleSoft, Concur, and Taleo
