Over the years, our resources have helped support the missions of various human service organizations in Oklahoma and across the nation.

NRCYS is looking for a Senior Training Coordinator committed to providing training and consultation grounded in five core principles for working with children, youth, and families (Trauma Responsiveness, Youth Development, Permanent Connections, Cultural Responsiveness, and Collaboration).  

Position Summary

This position will oversee the development and delivery of training and capacity-building technical assistance services for individuals and organizations serving children, youth, and families for assigned projects and programs. Includes, but is not limited to, training, collaborative partnerships, planning and facilitation of meetings and conferences, program assessment and documentation, and data collection, analysis, and reporting.  Supervise staff as assigned to oversee implementation of assigned projects and programs.

Duties

  1. Supervise staff as assigned to oversee implementation of the program.  Communicate clearly and directly with assigned staff concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability in implementing projects and programs. Meet with staff a minimum of two times per month.  
  2. Plan and attend internal and external meetings to include but not be limited to NRCYS Management Team Meetings, NRCYS Staff Meetings, Capacity Building Meeting, Contract/Project Meetings with funders, and University meetings as needed.  
  3. Communicate current policy and procedure to staff through agency, individual, team meetings, and scheduled trainings. 
  4. Manage the day-to-day administrative and programmatic activities for assigned projects and programs.  
  5. Evaluate and develop training staff, including contracted trainers.  
  6. Plan and facilitate activities, training, and capacity-building technical assistance that support state and national initiatives of NRCYS.  
  7. Create and develop best practice tools, activities, and resources to support service delivery and understanding.  
  8. Communicate, collaborate, and plan with contractors, other programs, and stakeholders on current trends, best practices, and program development through meetings, telephone, and email correspondence.  
  9. Collect and analyze data. Write reports. Utilize data to inform decision-making to benefit specific projects, programs, and agency initiatives.    
  10. Monitor and enhance the knowledge base on national and other state best practice initiatives to make informed decisions and recommendations regarding the ongoing management and improvement of projects, programs, and agency initiatives.  
  11. Uphold, safeguard and engage in activities to support the University's mission, NRCYS vision, mission, values, and core principles.
 

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in human services, education, or a closely related field.

Experience: 24-36 months combined experience in any of the following:

  • Youth work (children welfare, child/youth/family services, juvenile justice, education, treatment services).
  • Understanding service systems (mental health, community-based services, child welfare, education, etc.).
  • Training presentation and group facilitation.
  • Technical assistance and consultation.
  • Event planning and coordination.
  • Youth development and leadership activities.
  • Trauma responsive service provision.
  • Services to foster healthy youth development.
  • Services to foster healthy life span development.
  • Supporting children and youth in a successful transition to adulthood.
  • Evidence-based and research-informed practices.
  • Staff supervision.
  • Project management.

Skills:

  • Cultural humility and responsiveness knowledge and skills, including understanding its relevance to training.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to provide high-quality services while managing multiple projects under strict deadlines.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development (including knowledge of how to access child welfare legislation and continuing education resources).
  • Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and exercise professional judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills (including delivering high-quality customer service and participating in cross-departmental work teams).
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • Working knowledge and skills with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Master’s degree in human services, administration, education, or closely related field
  • 48 months of related experience
  • Professional experience working with public sector or state government agencies.
  • Curriculum design, development, and evaluation (e.g., instructional design, adult learning principles).
  • Experience with the development and evaluation of trainers.
  • Experience with online and blended learning development and delivery.
  • Experience collaborating with public and private child welfare and/or child and youth-serving organizations.
  • Knowledge regarding environmental and relational permanency.
  • Data collection and management.
  • Regional or national conference planning and/or workshop presentation.
  • National child welfare federal legislation, practices, policies, and initiatives.
  • Program assessment and evaluation.

Supervision:

  • Supervise a minimum of 3 staff.
