Summary

The Human Resources-Benefits Office is seeking a self-motivated and competent professional for the opportunity to serve as a Senior Benefits Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include handling benefits leave of absence, arrears, and Long Term Disability (LTD) processes for all employees/trainees. The position will support the Human Resources-International Services Office with benefits verifications in accordance with employee's visa status. The position will also be a part of the customer service and new employee orientation teams.

 

The Human Resources-Benefits Office at Baylor College of Medicine is focused providing excellent customer service to the Baylor community over a wide range of topics with benefits being a crucial element.

 

The position is hybrid, two days physically in the office and three days working from home. Schedule will be determined after hire.

Job Duties

  • This position will oversee the benefits leave of absence process, which includes running reports, letter compilation, invoicing for arrears payments, and issuing Long Term Disability (LTD)/Short Term Disability (STD) documentation to employees. The selected candidate will collaborate daily with Baylor's Leave Administration team regarding employees and the several types of leaves available. Using discretion and understanding the level of confidentiality (PHI) is crucial to being successful in the role.
  • This position will oversee the weekly benefits verification for all new hires arriving to the U.S. on visas, more specifically J1s. These visas have a specific criterion that must be maintained, and this position will be responsible for ensuring that criteria is met. The selected candidate will collaborate daily with Baylor's International Services Office for this task.
  • This position will be a part of the customer service team which includes responding to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries. Assist with open enrollment activities, present the benefits portion of new employee orientation and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field with two years of benefits experience.
  • The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, be regarded as a team player, have strong and proven organizations skills, and have a personal drive to be their best.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (advanced level skills).
  • Communications and writing experience.
