Job Description

Assistant Professor of English will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in African American literature and African American Studies; publish peer-reviewed research in area(s) of specialization; and contribute to the major, minor, and graduate degrees in English and to the minor in African American Studies.

Job Function:

Assistant Professor of English will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in African American literature and African American Studies; publish peer-reviewed research in area(s) of specialization; and contribute to the major, minor, and graduate degrees in English and to the minor in African American Studies.

Minimum Experience:

Completion of PhD in English or related discipline by time of appointment, with specialization in African American literature; record of effective teaching in African American Studies or related fields; record of publications and/or presentations in African American Literature.

Preferred Experience:

Demonstrated research expertise in African American Studies or related fields; demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: Indigenous Literatures, Hemispheric Studies, Transatlantic Studies, Digital Humanities.
