Summary

The Zhao Wang Lab is seeking a Research Associate to carry out research projects involving the extraction and purification of proteins and determine structures in order to understand the principles of protein-protein interactions in three dimensions and the structural bases for formation of molecular complexes in biological processes. The approach that we are using demands interdisciplinary skills, such as Cryo-EM/ET sample preparation and optimization, data collection and computing, 3D structure modeling and refinement.

Job Duties

  • Plans, directs, and conducts research experiments, as well as analysis of resulting data.  
  • Develops research techniques such as image analyze algorithm.
  • Utilizes electron cryo-microscope to study biomolecular structures and performs cell culture to understand architecture changes during cancer progression.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field.  Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
  • Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of college level biology and chemistry courses with labs (AP high school courses are also acceptable)
  • Experience with Cryo-EM/ET sample preparation and optimization, data collection and computing, 3D structure modeling and refinement
