Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Department of Residence Life works diligently to provide a comfortable and safe environment structured to enhance the academic climate at FSU. The department provides efficient and effective programs that integrate education and out of class learning, while promoting opportunities for leadership, citizenship, and campus involvement.
The Department of Residence Life is responsible for the management of several categories of facilities, all designed to provide on campus housing for approximately 1600 students. The department has an administrative unit that orchestrates daily operations, student services, financial records, personnel matters, facility enhancement, safety and emergency management.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Area Coordinator/Summer Conference Housing Coordinator (Assistant Residence Life Director for Community Standards) will be responsible for assisting in formulating, interpreting, and implementing housing polices that support the educational and programmatic aspects of the residential community, leading work teams, establishing community standards, overseeing facility logistics, supporting university and department housing recruitment efforts, and managing administrative processes. This position is considered a member of the Department Leadership Team and reports to the Director of Residence Life. Considered essential personnel.

This position requires working occasional nights and weekends during peak periods and during on-call rotations.
Description of Work Continued:
30%-Student Conduct: Knows and understands the Student Code of Conduct, FERPA, Title IX, State and Local laws, and University and Student Housing procedures. While liaising with the Office of Student Conduct reviews and updates student records/incidents and Maxient reports on behalf of the department. Appropriately communicates all discipline and conduct situations to upper administration. Uses interpersonal skills to interpret and communicate the university’s rules and regulations to residents and staff members. Coordinates community meetings and housing review sessions as a means to motivate and encourage compliance to the student housing agreement, Guide to Residential Living and other posted community standards. Provides response and support to parents, students, and residents with elevated concerns about their residential experiences. Routinely prepares data reports.

30%-Camps/Conference Housing Coordination: Provide overall leadership for summer conference operations, summer school, and guest housing. Recruits, trains, and supervises summer housing staff teams. Creates and manages operational budget to include expenses and client invoices. Develops professional and exceptional customer-focused relationships with conference clients. Coordination of facility, maintenance, and housekeeping efforts for summer conferences. Designs and implements marketing strategy related to all summer housing related projects. Generates data assessment reports.

30%-Service, Advising and General Administration: Serves as a team member and liaison with other Assistant and Associate Directors and others within Student Housing and the larger university community. Assists the Director in other designated responsibilities, research or special projects as assigned. Coordinates assigned responsibilities with appropriate University offices and staff. Facilitate communications to staff from other university units, including facility updates and problems, housing occupancy issues, health and safety concerns, and student outreach. Attends regularly scheduled Department of Residence Life, Division of Student Affairs, Student Government Association and Campus Staff meetings. Represents Residence Life at recruitment and orientation events. Serves on Division of Student Affairs and University level committees as needed.

5%-Professional Development: Determines need for and develops formal training programs to strengthen residential community standards. Participates in local, state, regional, and national conferences, and other professional development opportunities.

5%-Crisis Management: Serves as a Residence Life Administrator On-Call for crisis intervention with full decision-making authority. Provides assessment of responding subordinates’ response during assigned on-call periods.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience, including some experience as a lead worker; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
