Home of the American School of Architecture and a Design Intelligence-ranked Architecture program, the Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture (GCA) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track or tenured faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor focused on Evidence Based Design, Design Research Methods, and/or Design for Well Being beginning in August 2023.  Please note that Gibbs College is also hiring one faculty member in Interior Design, one faculty member in Construction Science and three teaching fellows.

We seek emerging or established scholars, practitioner architects, and/or designers who are passionate about collaborating on research and design. The successful candidate will join a group of creative and collaborative faculty working together advance our new Curriculum and Strategic Plan.

The successful candidate’s responsibilities may include:

• Advancing a rigorous research, creative activity, and/or community engagement agenda, including collaborating across disciplines on research and outreach initiatives;
• Teaching a Design Research Methods Course for students in our professionally accredited masters degree program;
• Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses including seminars, lecture courses, and design studios (three to four courses per year);
• Working with faculty and students in our NAAB-accredited programs to help maintain a curriculum consistent with program goals and related accreditation guidelines;
• Offering mentored research and or practice opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students in the program;
• University and community-based service; this service work is highly valued and critical to the University mission.

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of an accredited master's degree in Architecture (international equivalent such as RIBA) or a terminal degree in a related field;
• Potential to effectively teach architecture studios, seminars, and/or lecture courses;
• Potential for research productivity or evidence of contributing to a successful design practice;
• Effective communication and inter-personal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Evidence of successful collaborations in teaching, scholarly/creative activity, or community engagement;
• Broad understanding of the role of evidence-based design;
