About the Department
As part of a thriving, top-25 research university in a city with many Fortune 500 companies, the Lindner College of Business delivers academic excellence with an emphasis on experiential learning in a multi-disciplinary environment, adding real-world value to students and the communities they serve. The college enrolls over 4,200 undergraduate students and 1,100 graduate students and provides them with unique opportunities to build professional experience, cultural competency and leadership skills through co-operative education, internships, field-study research, and cross-disciplinary studios. The college’s new $120 million, 225,000-square-foot facility, Carl H. Lindner Hall, which opened in Fall 2019, positions Lindner among the nation’s best business schools with excellent programs and high growth potential.



The OBAIS Department—the largest department in the college—offers nationally-recognized educational programs in business analytics, information systems, and operations. For example, the Master’s in Business Analytics (MS-BANA) program has been named the No. 1 MS in Data Science school in the country by Predictive Analytics Today, and ranked 18th globally and 7th nationally among U.S. public universities by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The department was awarded the 2019 INFORMS UPS George D. Smith Prize for its innovative approach to curriculum that effectively prepares students to be successful operations research and analytics professionals after graduation. The department’s Master’s in Information Systems (MS-IS) program is also ranked 15th among U.S. universities by Eduniversal.

Job Overview
The Carl H. Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for the position of Department Head of the Department of Operations, Business Analytics, and Information Systems beginning no later than August 2023. Essential Functions
A core responsibility of the Department Head is to provide leadership and collaborative management of the department, including academic planning; promoting the selection, development, and retention of an outstanding and diverse faculty; potential supervision of exempt and non-exempt staff; course scheduling and staffing decisions; managing departmental budgets; long-range planning; curriculum development and program review; and the distribution and utilization of resources.



In addition, the Department Head is expected to contribute to the development of appropriate procedures for governance within the department and to achieve the strategic goals of the department, college, and university.



Furthermore, the Department Head is responsible for abiding by and working within the AAUP-UC Collective Bargaining Agreement.



Beyond the Department Head responsibilities described above, all Lindner College of Business tenure-track faculty members are expected to: be able to teach at any level of the department’s PhD, master’s, and undergraduate programs; conduct research consistent with the high standards of the Lindner College of Business; and advance the research, teaching, and outreach missions of the institution.

Minimum Requirements
Candidates must hold a Ph.D., Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), or equivalent degree in Information Systems, Statistics, Operations Management, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
Candidates must have an academic record of research, teaching, and service appropriate for an appointment with tenure in a college of business at the rank of associate or full professor.
Candidates must have a demonstrated record of academic leadership.
Appointment Details
The Department Head is appointed for an initial term of 4 years, and the appointment is renewable for subsequent terms of 3 years.
The Department Head appointment includes a stipend and appropriate teaching load reduction.
