Job Description

The Research Technologist will perform cell and animal experiments following standard protocols or with specific instruction in the Laboratory of Translational Neurobiology (Director, Wenzhen Duan, M.D., Ph.D) in the Department of Psychiatry/Division of Neurobiology.





Specific Duties/Responsibilities:



As Routine assay methods: PCR, qPCR, Western blotting; RNA, DNA, and protein purification and measurement.
Routine mouse colony management, tissue preparation, behavioral tests, and immunochemistry.
Cell culture and cell-based experiments following routine protocols.
Assist with cloning projects involving recombinant DNA.
Capacity to learn, with instruction, to implement or develop additional assays (examples: cell toxicity, immunoprecipitation, etc).
Lab supplier and reagent ordering and management.
Assist with basic equipment upkeep, with instruction as necessary.
With supervision, assist in monitoring lab space for function, safety and compliance with regulations.
Assist new lab members and students in standard lab techniques safety procedures.
Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.




Minimum Qualifications:



Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology or related field required.




Preferred Qualifications:



Some related post-undergraduate work experience in cell culture preferred.
