Job Description

Saint Louis University, a Catholic Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service seeks applicants for a 9-month Assistant Professor of Chemistry non-tenure track faculty position that is to start January 2, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a primarily teaching position and a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or a closely related discipline is required. While applicants from all areas of chemistry will be considered, the primary duty of this position is to teach Principles of Chemistry I and II lecture class sequence that covers basic aspects of general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. Additional teaching assignments may include other lecture or laboratory classes in general chemistry, organic chemistry or biochemistry.

The successful candidate is expected to maintain a collegial work environment as the individual reports to the Department Chairperson, coordinates closely with the Department Undergraduate and Graduate Program Coordinators, and works with other faculty to ensure consistent expectations for teaching assistants and delivery of course materials. There is also a service component of this position, which is developed in consultation with the Department Chair.
