The University of Oklahoma is pleased to announce our search for a Graduate College Admissions Counselor. The Graduate College is supportive workplace with a great atmosphere and an outstanding professional staff, and we're looking for a dynamic, committed professional to join our team. We are seeking a self-motivated individual who can work with our graduate programs to evaluate prospective students and applicants. This individual will assist with the implementation of a strategic plan to recruit, admit, and yield students for their assigned graduate programs. This position is responsible for coordinating admissions services, communicating detailed information regarding graduate programs to prospective students, managing the application process for assigned academic units and initial review of applications. This position will review both domestic and international applications. We are particularly interested in appointing someone with a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion who is committed to recruiting students of many identities and nationalities and can design effective communication strategies to appeal to them.

 

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND

  • 12 months of related experience. 

.Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.

Skills:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills       
  • Basic math skills     
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases       
  • Some travel required for recruiting       
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information       
  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines       
  • Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty and staff       
  • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations       
  • Customer service skills

  • None.

  • Ability to bend, lift, stoop and carry.  
  • Ability to engage in repetitive motions. 
  • Standard office environment. 
  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
  • May be required to travel.  
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.  
  • Requires contact with other departments and university officials.
  • Willingness to work extended and weekend hours during peak periods.
