Job Description

The University of Oklahoma, Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts invites applications for an Assistant Professor Trumpet in the School of Music. The ideal candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate applied trumpet, hold a weekly studio class, coach chamber music, collaborate with OU School of Music faculty, engage in effective recruiting activities, maintain an international, national, and regional teaching and performing outreach schedule, and serve on various committees as assigned by the Director of the OU School of Music.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Earned Master of Music in Trumpet Performance. Evidence of successful collegiate teaching and professional performing.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Doctor of Musical Arts Degree preferred. Evidence of successful recruiting, mentoring, and teaching at the collegiate level. Experience guiding creative activity at the graduate level. Creative/scholarly accomplishments demonstrated through national and international performances, master classes, presentations at conferences, recordings, publications, and/or professional leadership. We are especially interested in candidates who will help cultivate the uniquely collaborative atmosphere in our brass program and who can contribute, through their teaching, performing, and service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community, and who will work to build relationships with other departments within the College and the University.
