The Office of Human Resources is pleased to announce our search for a Human Resources Business Partner. This role will partner with employees and leaders, at all levels of the university, on issues such as talent management, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement. To be successful in this role, you will need a flexible skillset, including the ability to think strategically, execute tactically, and collaborate across many teams, levels, and situations.


Our Services

 

You will join a team of four HR Business Partners that provide services to designated clients across the Norman Campus. These services include:

  • Strategic Partner: advise, train, and support embedded human resource professionals; collaborate and connect clients with the appropriate HR SME; facilitate HR best practices; communicate HR initiatives; provide tools and resources; communicate policy updates, and provide networking opportunities
  • Organizational Effectiveness: advise on organizational strategies, organizational structure and work environment, succession-planning; conduct workforce reviews and provide recommendations; assist in change management; identify opportunities to improve personnel management practices and intercede to change or correct inappropriate personnel management practices
  • Employee Experience: provide managers and embedded human resource professionals on how to assess, measure, and improve employee engagement to make the University of Oklahoma an employer of choice; includes resources like engagement surveys, employee appreciation and recognition, stay interviews, exit interviews, onboarding and offboarding process 
  • Talent Management: assist managers and embedded human resource professionals in establishing performance expectations, carrying out interventions, and assuring accountability to ensure productive employees and work environments; Work with managers to provide succession planning, employee development, and performance appraisals 
  • Conflict Resolution: assist in resolving problems and conflict in the workplace before they escalate to a disruption; may involve investigations and assisting with conflict mediation and resolution 
  • Investigations: conduct objective and thorough investigations and/or audits related to workforce management, employee conduct, retaliation, or employee complaints and grievances
  • Policy & HR Risk Management: provide the campus with HR policy framework to effectively manage the staff workforce, implement campus initiatives related to human resources, and to mitigate risks; ensure compliance with applicable state and federal employment laws
 

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree, AND: 

  •  12 months of professional HR experience in Employee Relations or related field

Equivalency/Substitution: 48 months of related experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree for a total of 60 months experience.

  • Must possess strong knowledge of Human Resources including but not limited to HR Strategy, Employment Law, Job Analysis, Organizational Development, and Recruiting
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced computer literacy with specific proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for prolonged periods. Use of a computer and telephone. Communicate effectively and listen. Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
  • Standard Office Environment. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. Requires contact with employees, other departments, and University officials.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Strong preference for 36 months progressive HR experience
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft
  • Experience in higher education
