DESCRIPTION:

The Research Engineering Associate I, under general supervision, evaluates, selects, and applies techniques used in routine research and development. Prepares and assists in the preparation of reports, publications, and presentations.

Functional Area 1: Engineering

Percent Effort: 50%

Job Duties:

Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques used in routine research and development.

Performs and reports professional level engineering assignments related to a particular field of research.

Selects and determines procedures in design, research, mapping, surveys, and investigations.

Conducts specific phases of research and/or engineering projects.

Functional Area 2: Research

Percent Effort: 50%

Job Duties:

Makes and records observations and measurements. Compiles data.

Sets up and operates apparatuses or equipment. Inspects construction/assembly to ensure conformity to project specifications.

Collects and/or analyzes samples.

Conducts directed phases of research and development projects.

Prepares or assists in the preparation of reports and other publications. Presents or assists in the presentation of research results at technical meetings or other venues

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in the Engineering field or related field.

Additional experience may be used as a substitution for the minimum education requirement:

o HS Diploma/GED and four (4) years of related experience

o Associates degree and two (2) years of related experience

Ability to travel as needed. Travel associated with position may be up to 20%

Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

Verbal and written communication skills

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with UAS operations
