Job Description

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position to start in August 2023 in the general field of planetary science. The opening is targeted at the level of Assistant Professor, but experienced candidates with appropriate credentials will be considered for an Associate Professor appointment. Depending on the background and teaching interest, the successful candidate would also be affiliated with one of the following academic departments at CU:

Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences
Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
Physics
Geological Sciences
Aerospace Engineering Sciences
The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU) began in 1948, a decade before NASA. We are the world’s only research institute to have sent instruments to all eight planets and Pluto. Research, teaching and service in planetary sciences.
Areas of interest include: Research approaches from remote sensing, to instrument development, to space missions, to laboratory studies and to theory, addressing research targets both within our solar system and exoplanets, and applying fields such as atmospheric science, planetary geology, astrobiology, geophysics, space environments, dynamics, etc.

The salary range for this position is $100,000-$128,000. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 200% matching for the first 5% contributed with immediate vesting. Relocation assistance is available per institute guidelines.
