The Department of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science (MPCS) at Springfield College invites applications for the open position of Assistant Professor of Computer Science (Tenure Track). MPCS is seeking a dynamic individual who is dedicated to teaching, has a strong interest in curriculum development, and who seeks a highly collaborative and creative environment. The department has seen unprecedented growth in our computing majors and is seeking an individual who is looking to shape the foundation of computer science at Springfield College. MPCS offers majors in Computer and Information Sciences and Mathematics. The department partners with other disciplines for the majors of Digital, Web, and Multimedia Design as well as Computer Technology education. Aside from these majors, MPCS also offers minors in Computer Science, Programming, Sports Analytics, Web Design and Animation. Springfield College is highly interested in areas of growth for these programs and seeks a colleague with a forward-looking vision in these ever-evolving fields. Faculty are expected to strive for excellence in instruction, scholarship and service while embracing the colleges’ “Humanics” philosophy of educating in Spirit, MInd, and Body. The main role of the successful candidate will be to teach 12 credits per semester in the department. Scholarship and contributions to the professional community are expected, and preference will be given to candidates who can strive to include undergraduate students in their respective scholarly work.

Requirements
Candidates must have completed a PhD in computer science or a related discipline such as Computational Science, Robotics, Mathematical Modeling etc. by the start time of the position. College-level teaching experience and an active research agenda, or evidence of research potential, is preferred. The candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to equity in the classroom. ABD candidates will be considered, providing evidence of degree completion by the start date of the position.
