Job Description

The individual in this position will work with a team of full-time staff and students on technology classroom support, design, installation, monitoring, maintenance, repair, and training. The primary responsibility of this position will be to assist in the maintenance and day-to-day support of the more than 130 technology classrooms and university computing labs. This position will also collaborate with different departments on campus in the planning, design, and management of projects involving the renovation or upgrade of both centrally scheduled and departmental learning spaces. Equipment expertise includes projectors, visual presenters, audio amplifiers and mixers, various audio and video switching devices and electronic control systems as well as PCs and Macs in our environments. This individual will maintain documentation of equipment and procedures pertaining to technology classroom environments. The position reports to the Information Technology Coordinator within the Technology Classroom Team.

Job duties include:

Supporting Technology Classroom Environments and University Computing Labs

Troubleshoot equipment failures and assist faculty/staff with issues encountered in over 130 technology classroom environments and university computing labs
Provide quick and efficient response to calls from the hotline, which are sometimes after normal work hours and on weekends
Ensure that the university computing labs and technology classrooms across campus are in a proper working order including regular maintenance of all A/V equipment, projectors, sound systems, visual presenters, PCs, Apple Computers, printers, and general infrastructure as well as regular cleaning to maintain functional instruction environments
Coordinate with IT Help Desk staff to provide timely and efficient resolutions to user problems in technology classrooms and university computing labs and respond to technology classroom hotline calls
Research equipment to purchase, generate equipment orders for approval, installation of equipment, configuration of new equipment and existing equipment as necessary
Provide reporting data and trends as requested
Project Coordination

Offer consultation and advice to departments looking to upgrade technology and assist staff with the design and installation of new technology classrooms
Research and gather information on AV technology to assist in building of quotes for classroom design and technology upgrades for centrally scheduled and department spaces. Install, program, and maintain control systems, switchers, and user interfaces. Coordinate with manager, vendors and contractors throughout technology installation process to ensure timely and accurate installations
Assist in training the department staff on use of technology once it is installed.
Coordinate with supervisor and team on project details
Training, Quality of Service, and Documentation

Assist with the development, scheduling, organization, and delivery of training
Ensure that all student staff members are adequately prepared to answer questions via phone, service management software, and in-person
Develop and improve current training processes and documentation
Supervise and assist with the development of work schedules for student employees, and assist in the selection process of new student employees
Manage students with tasks assigned in service management software
Participate in all aspects of the Tech Classroom team responsibilities
Provide impeccable customer service for all duties
Work cooperatively with KSU IT Units, KSU Libraries and campus constituents to meet the IT needs of the campus community
Regularly update and maintain all classroom and lab assets whenever new equipment is purchased or installed to ensure that records are always accurate and up-to-date
Work hours are flexible when classes are in session and can be negotiated at time of hire. For example: hours may be early afternoon to evening (1:00 p.m. to 10 p.m.) or late morning to early evening (11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.)
