Salary
Salary Range: $80,000- $84,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours per Week
Exempt Position: 40 hours per week.

Essential Functions
Responsible for oversight, management and maintenance of the day to day activities that support departmental systems, software, and assigned personnel.

Responsible for overseeing, and managing multiple data systems of varying complexity, and planning, organizing, and controlling projects involving these systems. To include an in-depth knowledge of documentation, virtual environments application-level protocols, security, network, and server operating systems support and administration.

Typical:

Administers, configures, and maintains servers, storage products, and applications relevant to the College of Business’ IT infrastructure.
Establishes and maintains departmental operation standards, procedures, and programming conventions. Analyzes existing systems and procedures and evaluates system performance according to current requirements.
Researches new technologies and products and recommends implementation. Specifies equipment purchases and oversees implementation of new technology and products.
Manages, tests, and provides support to multiple systems and servers in a small data center environment. Analyze, design, evaluate, and optimize the performance and security of servers.
Consults with vendors, faculty, and staff concerning projected enhancements to hardware, network capabilities, websites, etc.
Monitors systems for optimal performance and efficiency.
Coordinates routine maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of applications and server issues.
Keeps usage of the network within both legal and necessary functional boundaries.
Performs emergency maintenance and recovery during failures or issues.
Serves as team liaison when managing projects and coordinating with OIT staff.
Provides end-user support to staff members.
Acts as a liaison between designers of systems and the users of the systems and recommends appropriate applications within the system requirements
Organizes and schedules projects for the support area. Trains assigned support staff.
Performs IT security related tasks and manages College’s system and network security. Investigates security incidents and recommends changes
Performs other duties defined by department and leadership in support of strategic project requirements.
Periodic:

Presents systems studies to user personnel
Assists in training lower classified analyst personnel
Produces weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution six years of experience in server administration which includes servers, SANS, disk arrays, network hardware (e.g., switches, firewalls, VPNs), and knowledge of IP networking, basic routing, basic common ports, and network services. Additional experience may substitute for education on a one for one basis.

Demonstrated experience with both server and client virtualization using industry leading virtualization tools
In depth understanding of Windows Server operating systems, including all various roles and features, security hardening processes and functionality specific to required tasks. Some Linux experience.
Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, discretion, and flexibility. Ability to work effectively with a variety of professionals, administrators, and support staff given general supervision from immediate supervisor.


Preferred Qualifications
Computer Science or Information Systems Degree preferred.
In depth knowledge of VMware server and desktop virtualization implementation and maintenance.
Experience with Learning Management System (LMS).
