Summary

The Alkek Center for Metagenomics and Microbiome Research (CMMR) at Baylor College of Medicine is looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Research Assistant II to assist with management of microbiome projects.  The candidate must have excellent organizational and communication skills to ensure effective management of projects by correctly planning, organizing, tracking, and delivering on all project aspects.  Ability to multi-task and handle many moving parts are a must as the center is growing rapidly.

Job Duties

  • Plans and directs research experiments, maintaining appropriate records.
  • Manage the projects from CMMR Service Center and grant projects.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Act as liaison for CMMR teams and collaborating research groups.
  • Process, ship, and maintain paperwork for biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocols.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Assists in grant preparation and development.
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field. 
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Four years of relevant experience.
