The Facilities Management unit of the Division of Facilities & Services at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Maintenance Worker II.



About the Opportunity



This position will provide leadership in maintaining the interior and exterior appearance of institutional buildings. This work involves adhering to established standard procedures, techniques, and safety requirements with some judgment required to interpret instructions. Must be very familiar with interpreting event diagrams and completing set-ups as required.

What You'll Do
Provide leadership and coordination of all assignments for events managed by Facilities .
Be very familiar with interpreting event diagrams and completing set-ups as required.
Functions as a team leader in the cleaning and maintenance of the interior and surrounding exterior appearance of all buildings performing duties associated with a Campus Service Worker.
Follows procedures and makes work assignments to those individuals assigned to the crew to ensure work is completed in a timely manner and to ensure proper quality and quantity.
Coordinates relocation of offices, classrooms, and set-ups for special events in all facilities by performing duties associated with a Campus Service
Able to operate computers utilizing various software programs such as: Facilities Management maintenance management programs involving work orders and materials accountability, building support systems and other systems as necessary.
Will be required to fill in for Supervisor in his/hers absence.
May be required to dig holes and trenches and spreads and levels dirt, gravel and concrete to assist in installation of traffic signs, irrigation/drainage systems and concrete structures. Also Shovel snow throughout campus.

Work schedule and hours: Wednesday through Saturday 2pm - 12 midnight


Qualifications

Vocational or technical training of up to 18 months beyond High School or an equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience.
A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the following:
Experience in setting up cleaning schedules, proper commercial restroom cleaning procedures, commercial floor maintenance procedures, commercial carpet cleaning procedures. Experience in training others in the safe and proper ways to operate all commercial cleaning custodial equipment.
Must be able to interpret diagrams or blueprints for event set-ups.
Must have knowledge to be able to set-up staging and dance floors.
Must have Experience operating basic Powered hand tools such drills and saws.
Must have experience operating basic roads & Grounds equipment such, weed eater, leaf blower and power washer.
