Job Description:
The Department of Theatre & Dance at The University of Texas at El Paso invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Faculty, with an emphasis in Dance, beginning fall 2023. This is a full-time, nine-month, faculty position. The successful candidate will possess a strong background and experience in teaching, performing, and/or choreographing dance and be dedicated to serving UTEP's dynamic student population. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to UTEP's inclusive excellence framework. The individual in this position will also serve as the Director of Dance.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

Teach undergraduate courses such as Ballet, Contemporary, Dance History, Somatics and World Dance, as well as other dance courses related to area(s) of expertise.
Develop and teach new undergraduate courses in dance.
Advise, mentor, and support students through their undergraduate learning and training at the university.
Embrace new forms of critically engaged disciplinary practice/scholarship in the evolving field of dance.
Foster courses that emphasize a commitment to social responsibility, advocacy, diversity and engagement as they relate to the field.
Seek interdisciplinary opportunities across the university.
Collaborate with other dance faculty to produce dance productions.
Collaborate in the development of curriculum for our largely Latinx student body while still maintaining a culturally responsive teaching focus on other traditionally underrepresented groups.
Perform other responsibilities as appropriate service duties at a major university, including but not limited to assisting with student recruitment, participating in program review (including implementation and assessment of learning outcomes), committee work, etc.
Demonstrate a commitment to collegiality within and outside the university.
Pursue external grants in support of research or creative activity, when appropriate and available in the faculty member's field.
Maintain and grow an artistic national and/or international professional career.
Serve as Director of Dance.
Contribute to UTEP's strategic efforts as America's leading Hispanic-Serving University.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

Terminal degree (M.F.A or Ph.D.)
Significant professional experience in dance or choreography at a regional and national/international level (or the potential to achieve such level)
Strong record of creative activity and/or research and publications
Evidence of excellence in mentorship
Demonstrated and ongoing commitment to serving a diverse student population
Strong evidence of the ability and desire to perform departmental and university service
Commitment to quality, student-centered education and working as a collegial team member
Excellent communication, organizational and resource/time-management skills
Extensive knowledge and pedagogy of dance repertoire in a variety of dance forms
Ability to form partnerships within and outside of the university, regionally, nationally, and internationally, including community engagement
Administrative experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching Somatics
Certification in a Somatic movement practice
Strong record of grant writing
Research and understanding of interdisciplinary area in healthcare (for example: Theatre for Healthcare Equity and Theatre of the Oppressed training)
