The position supports the Training and Research Center's customers, providing direct immediate support to OU and DHS for staff and meeting rooms at our location in Noble, Oklahoma.  The position provides remote and on-site support for several hundred staff both onsite and remote.  This position is part of a larger team of IT Support focused staff.

Duties include:

  • Onsite support, remote support, and system setup and deployment for workers both onsite and remote.
  • Support of Windows computer systems on both OU and Oklahoma DHS networks
  • Support of classroom technology and other related systems
  • Work in a team environment with other IT Staff to resolve issues and diagnose problems, and work in coordination with partners in OUIT and Office of Management Enterprise Services.  
  • Installing and configuring hardware and software.
  • Talking coworkers through the process of fixing technical issues.
  • Prioritizing your workload to ensure the most critical issues are resolved first.
  • Documenting common support procedures that coworkers can follow.
  • Providing support remotely when necessary.
  • Transporting, unboxing, and installing equipment such as desktops, monitors, and battery backups
  • Maintain excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels in the organization

 

 

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, AND: 

  •  2 years of experience in Information Technology or related experience.

Equivalency Substitution: Will accept 48 months of experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months experience.

Skills:

  • Expereince with Windows 10 support
  • Experience with remote desktop applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience supporting Contact Centers.       
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in sitting position, use computer and answer telephone
  • Must be able to visit staff's onsite location to diagnose onsite issues.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Experience with State Agency IT, specifically OMES and DHS
  • Experience with Mac OS support
  • Experience with creation of system images and deployment
  • IT Related Certifications
