Rider University has recently expanded its investment in STEM education and has built new infrastructure and academic programs, including Health Sciences and Exercise Science. As a result, the Department of Biology, Behavioral Neuroscience, and Health Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences is recruiting a full-time (10-month academic year) tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor in Exercise Science to begin September 2023. Responsibilities for this position will include contributing to instruction of exercise science courses (e.g., Exercise testing and prescription, special populations) as well as other courses in disciplinary specialty that align with departmental teaching needs, developing an active research program engaging undergraduate students, advising students and providing value to the Department, College and University. Willingness to work collaboratively with other faculty and to mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures and academic backgrounds is essential.

Position Requirements

Competitive candidates will have a PhD or other terminal degree and professional certification (e.g., NSCA CSCS, ACSM CEP, CSCCa) in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology or related field. Clinical doctorates (DAT, DPT, DOT) may be considered with appropriate experience. Candidates should have a demonstrated record of outstanding teaching of diverse populations of undergraduate students, as well as the ability to engage undergraduates in an active, independent research program. Preferred candidates will have post-doctoral or clinical experience, experience establishing and supervising internships/field placements/clinical experiences, and experience with program accreditation. Candidates who are ABD at the time of application may be considered.
