Job Description

We are a research group at the Department of Mental Health, focused on longitudinal studies of health and mental health, and the role of stressors and infections in cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. We collect primary data from multiple sources, including interview surveys, cognitive assessments, sleep measurements, and biologic samples. We are seeking a Research Data Analyst with proficiency in R and other statistical packages to conduct data analyses and data-management tasks for various projects, and to contribute to and co-author publications.



Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Collect, compile and manage project-related data.
Interact with collaborators to ensure secure and appropriate data transfer, including de-identification of data sets as required.
Develop and perform procedures for quality control analysis to identify outlying or other anomalous data points to ensure data integrity.
Perform tests of significance, analysis of variance, correlation, and regression analysis.
Tabulate and summarize statistical output.
Present data by computer readouts, graphs, charts, tables, written reports, or other methods.
Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.


Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics or Computer Science, Public Health, or a related field of study and three years related experience.
Additional education (Master's level) may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*


* JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior work experience with studies collecting survey data; familiarity with relational databases.
Knowledge of R, Python, SPSS, SAS, Stata, and SQL a plus; Ability to work well as part of a team.


Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proficiency in statistical software.
Strong problem-solving skills, including organizing and investigating possible solutions and presenting them to the team for discussion.
Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.

Starting Salary Range: $45,650 - $62,850 annually (commensurate with experience)

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
