Position Summary



At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Physical Therapist is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our inpatient population.



Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.



Duties of a TH Physical Therapist in the Center may include the following but are not limited to:





Demonstrate competency in all aspects of planning and providing PT treatment programs including patient evaluation and therapeutic techniques. Advances clinical competency as appropriate. May provide care for: Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric patients.
Demonstates competency in professional skills necessary to coordinate patient care with other members of the health care team, patient and family. Appropriately participates in patient's care plan.
Demonstrates effective: organizational skills; time management skills; efficiency; productivity. Maintains accurate, clear and concise patient documentation. Completes all required statistical documentation accurately, completely and in a timely manner.
Demonstrates effective communication with patients (age appropriate), family, members of the health care team, supervisors, and peers. Provides effective patient and family education, with consideration to patient's age, learning needs, barriers to learning and learning preferences. Demonstrates respect for patient/family cultural and religious needs.
Maintains a safe patient care environment. Demonstrates respect for patient privacy.
Participates in departmental programs, committees, and quality improvement initiatives as assigned. Provides supervision to physical therapy students and volunteers. Assists with the orientation and training of new staff within the department (as assigned). Participates in departmental inservice program by providing and attending staff inservices.




Qualifications



Required: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physical Therapy from an approved

and accredited institution. New York State Physical Therapy Licensure/Registration required.



Preferred: Two years' experience in acute care hospital setting.

In accordance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) regulation that all hospitals and nursing homes “continuously require all personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19,” Candidates who are not already partially vaccinated must obtain the first dose of the vaccine within three (3) calendar days of acceptance of conditional job offer and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with the vaccine protocol Candidates who are partially vaccinated, but not yet fully vaccinated, must complete their vaccination series within three (3) calendar days of job offer or in accordance with vaccine manufacture protocol, whichever comes later.

The regulation also includes those who may be affiliated with or interact with employees of a hospital or nursing home. The regulation allows for limited exemptions with reasonable accommodations, consistent with applicable law.
