Serves as academic counselor for students in the Michael F. Price College of Business. Supports the planning and delivery of academic advising/counseling services offered through the Price Academic Advising Services Office, as well as participates in programs and events which promote comprehensive educational opportunities for all students within the college. Counsels and advises students and disseminates information. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) by fulfilling training and reporting obligations related to campus safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Counsels and advises students and prospective students
  • Tracks academic progress
  • Receives, screens, and responds to student and parent academic inquiries verbally and in writing
  • Provides general information regarding academic issues
  • Assists in the maintenance of student records
  • Provides input for the development and revision of informational materials
  • Assists with data collection and statistical reporting
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's degree 

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months academic advising or student services experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.

  • Ability to work independently
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff
  • Composition and proofreading skills 
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • None

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to engage in repetitive motions including movements of the hands, wrists or fingers and communicate including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others. 
  • Sitting for long periods of time. 
  • Frequent talking. 
  • Occasionally stands and walks. 

Department Preferences:

  • University experience in an academic administration
  • University experience and knowledge of OU systems
