Summary

The Senior Data Analytics Associate ensures the quality and integrity of large complex datasets. The Analyst also provides dashboards and reports of findings to support executive prioritization and evidence-based decision making.  This position will work on enhancing clinical research data reporting and in line with the research mission of Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). The position will be integral in defining reports to stakeholders within BCM leadership, department administration and central offices related to clinical research activity across the college. The data represented in the reports are sourced from various systems, therefore, the ability to review and understand the data elements that exist, how to coalesce those elements and produce meaningful reports is critical.

 

Data quality analysis is another area this position will focus on. By developing processes and testing to ensure the dataset achieves reliable information to stakeholders, the position will enhance our ability to accurately report the organization's clinical research activity. Collaboration with developers and other data users will also be key to this position's success.

 

This position is eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement.

Job Duties

Data Integrity
• Performs statistical tests on large complex datasets, for college-wide clinical research, to determine data quality and integrity. 
• Evaluates performance and design of the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) and other systems; analyzes its effect on data quality and provides recommendations for optimization.
• Collaborates with database developers from central IT and the Office of Research IT to improve data collection and storage processes.
• Runs data queries to identify issues.
• Gathers data from primary or secondary data sources to identify and interpret trends.
• Develops process improvements to enhance overall data quality.
• Develops and executes data cleanup measures. 

 

Reporting
• Reports data analysis findings to management to inform business decisions and prioritize information system needs.
• Assists with the development of user-friendly reports and dashboards.

 

Training
• Develops data quality training for department and administration stakeholders, college-wide.
• Develops policies, standard procedures and offers specific guidance on data integrity for end-users.

 

Business Operations
• Develops strategies to optimize statistical efficiency.
• Participates in the ongoing development and support of the College's research data reporting systems.
• Applies a high degree of analytical and technical expertise to interact with functional teams.
• Manages project requirements and goals.
• Adheres to best practices in data analysis and collection.
• Keeps abreast of developments and trends in data quality analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement. 
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and two years of experience may be considered.
  • PowerBI or other data reporting software.
  • Experience in a healthcare, academic, or research environment.
  • Experience with clinical trial data.
