Description
The Department of Poultry Science, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time Tenure Track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the broad area of Sustainable Technologies with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2023. The selected candidate will focus their program on one or a combination of these areas: climate-smart production, transformative technologies, regenerative animal agriculture, imaging, biosensors, or a combination thereof. The candidate’s past and/or future research interests should be germane to poultry production but inclusive of other animal production systems. This emphasis should be evident in the research and scholarship emerging from the lab. This position is part of a larger hiring initiative in the department, and the selected candidate will be expected to establish a new program that complements the department’s core emphases on animal health, precision nutrition, sustainability, and animal genomics. The tenure track position will be a 9-month appointment with 65% Research/Graduate mentoring and 30% Teaching expectation, and 5% service.

The selected candidate will be expected to develop a strong extramurally funded program (from private and federal sources) and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. The candidate will also be expected to develop new courses, including the topic of advanced cutting-edge techniques, that fit in the UG and GR curricula and support the land grant mission of Texas A&M University.

The department of Poultry Science is a comprehensive poultry science program with academic, research, and service components spanning the full range from modern poultry management to the most cutting-edge biotechnology.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in the Biological Sciences, Animal or Poultry Sciences, Biological Engineering, Sustainable Agriculture, or related field, and demonstrated evidence of expertise, scholarship, and mentoring experience in the domain of relevance.

Preferred Qualifications: At least two years of post-PhD experience in a research position, with evidence of grantsmanship, teaching/mentoring experience, and a roadmap of future research over the next decade. Demonstrated record of communicating research through different academic and non-academic channels. Demonstrated record of working with people of different backgrounds and a clear commitment to broadening participation, including women and underrepresented minorities.
