Job Description

Summary

The Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an experienced, reliable and enthusiastic Senior Research Administration Associate to manage the pre- and post-award processes for grant/contract activities in the department. The position is expected to be the resource for faculty, research admin staff, and principal investigators on grant submissions and post award management, and may train and mentor lower level associates and faculty on research administration.

 

This is an onsite role.

Job Duties

Pre-Award

  • Manage federal, state and industry grants, contracts & subcontract submissions internally and externally.
  • Serve as POC between OOR, sponsors, PIs, collaborating institutions.
  • Gather and create documents necessary for grant submission including budget, budget justification, other support, statement of work, etc and communicate timelines to faculty to ensure applications are submitted on time to central office for review and approval.
  • Review and approve grant application proposals for sections assigned in the College's electronic Biomedical Research and Assurance Information Network (BRAIN).
  • Ensure compliance with all guidelines for funding purpose.
  • Make recommendations for process improvement to increase efficiency and implement changes.
  • Attend workshops on research administration for continued education and contribute to the development and improvement of the pre-/post- award management process.

Post-Award

  • Responsible for post-awards management with oversight from department leadership.
  • Confirm sourcing of research staff to appropriate accounts monthly.
  • Generate monthly financial reports on research awards.
  • Submit invoices to sponsors.
  • Contribute to the preparation of budget for annual grant reporting per college and sponsor guidelines.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day sponsored research activities for the unit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

  • Ideal candidate will have good communication/interpersonal skills, be accountable, organized, self-motivated, team player, work well under pressure, multitasking.
