Job Description

Bowling Green State University is searching for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the discipline of Electronics and/or Computer Engineering with a start date of August 7, 2023. The individuals will teach and develop undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Electronic Communication Circuits, Digital Communication Networks, Wireless Communications, Computer Hardware, Programmable Logic Controllers, and courses in general engineering technology One of the two positions will include some teaching in robotics. The individuals will help to continue to develop the curriculum to ABET accreditation standards. The qualified individuals will also perform externally funded research in areas such as computer hardware and embedded systems, cybersecurity, wireless networking, IoT, or other state-of-the-art research areas. The successful candidate will have the skills needed to interact with external companies as input to the curriculum and engage in industry projects and research.

The College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering is undergoing a major transformation by creating a School of Engineering to replace the current Department of Engineering Technologies. The School of Engineering will host our current B.S. in Systems Engineering and M.S. in Logistic Systems Engineering, and is scheduled to launch three additional engineering programs in Fall 2023 – Electronics and Computer Engineering, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, and Robotics Engineering.

The curriculum is heavily focused on hands-on education and applied research and mandates co-operative education courses for all students. Current programs are focused on ABET-ETAC accredited engineering technology programs, three of which are being converted to engineering. Additionally, technology programs will also be offered under the School of Engineering.

Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate level courses in areas such as Electronic Communication Circuits, Digital Communication Networks, Wireless Communications, Computer Hardware, Programmable Logic Controllers, and courses in general engineering technology.
- Conduct research that leads to high-quality peer-reviewed publications in relevant areas
- Conduct research that is supported by external funding.
- Reach out, interact, and partner with industry.
- Provide appropriate service to the department, college, university, and the profession
- Engage in a leadership role in the program.
Minimum Qualifications & Salary:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in electrical/electronics and/or computer engineering, or a very closely related discipline is required. Individuals who expect to complete their Ph.D. before the start date of the contract (August 7, 2023) will be considered.
- Evidence of peer-reviewed publications in relevant research areas.

Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of industry experience –or– at least 1 year of teaching and developing undergraduate/graduate courses at the university level.
- Evidence of external funding in relevant areas.
