Summary

A full-time Research Technician position is available in Dr. Wu's lab located at Children’s Nutrition Research Center, Baylor College of Medicine. The technician will provide critical support for the research focusing on the brain control of metabolic and neurological disorders that are based upon genetic mouse models. The lab is currently on the path to publish a series of manuscripts currently funded by NIH and USDA. The lab supports to provide great opportunity to contribute to these exciting projects.

Job Duties

  • Conducts mouse colony maintenance that includes breeding, genotyping, database management, keeps records in compliance with IACUC regulations.
  • Works on histology that includes tissue dissection, cryosectioning, immunostaining.
  • Works on lab maintenance that includes to  keep work surfaces clean and orderly, maintains glassware by cleaning, washing, sterilizing, and labeling. Prepares lab stock solutions. Ensures lab safety.
  • Assists with the ordering and inventory of lab supplies. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with following techniques is desired.
  • Experience in handling lab rodents, PCR, molecular biology.
