Summary

The laboratory in the Department of Neurology performs research in epilepsy and associated comorbidities that includes attention deficits. This position helps to fulfill this mission, and it is located in the Methodist Neurosensory Center, in the Texas Medical Center. Department of Neurology is looking for a Research Technician, a recent graduate completed his/her undergraduate degree. The Research technician will be working with mouse models of epilepsy and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Job Duties

  • Maintenance of mouse colonies that includes genotyping and breeding.
  • Conducts computational analysis of EEG (brain wave) activity.
  • Performs behavioral studies in mice.
  • Aids in analysis of behavior data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mouse handling is desired.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience in an academic medicine environment is a bonus. 
  • Has exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, be regarded as a team player, have strong and proven organizational skills, and have a personal drive to be their best.
