Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:

Assist the CIO in development and maintenance of The University’s cyber security program. cyber security functions including risk analysis, system security, data security, access control, and cyber incident management. Monitor information security and coordinate response and recovery from information security incidents. Maintain campus information security awareness program, including presentations and training sessions for all levels of administrators, faculty, staff, and students.

Assist departments in risk analysis and business continuity planning. Troubleshoots and resolves security related application problems as needed, provides expertise in incident response, threat identification, and network vulnerability, testing, and reporting. Comply with requests from the University internal auditors and law enforcement officers in performing compliance audits and gathering electronic
evidence as needed.

What You’ll Do – Position Duties

As a member of our team, you will have an impact on our clients through accomplishment of the following responsibilities:

Develop and recommend policies and procedures necessary to protect the university’s information resources and the institution’s information security risks;
Work with the business and technical resources to ensure that controls are utilized to address all applicable requirements of TAC and the institution’s information security risks;
Provide for training and direction of personnel with significant responsibilities for information security with respect to such responsibilities.
Provide guidance and assistance to senior institution of higher education officials, information owners, information custodians, and end users concerning their responsibilities under this chapter.
Coordinate the review of the data security requirements, specifications, and, if applicable, third-party risk assessment of any new computer applications or services that receive, maintain, and/or share confidential data.
Verifying that security requirements are identified, and risk mitigation plans are developed and contractually agreed and obligated prior to the purchase of information technology hardware, software, and systems development services for any new high impact computer applications or computer applications that receive, maintain, and/or share confidential data;
Report, to the president the status and effectiveness of security controls;
Inform the parties in the event of noncompliance with TAC 202 and/or with the university’s information security policies.
Establish and maintain computer security emergency response team that manages the computer incident response plan.
Coordinate activities during security incidents.
Establish and maintain a security awareness program to achieve a security conscious campus community.
Serve as the IT’s internal and external point of contact for information security issues.
Assist the CIO in state and system information security audits and provide recommendations to the CIO to enhance the university’s information security program.
Other responsibilities as defined under Texas Administrative Code (TAC §202.71 Chapter C)
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
What You’ll Need to Succeed – Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. BS in IT Security, Computer Science, MIS or related MS
field preferred.
