The IT Support Specialist 1 is responsible for providing basic IT support knowledge/experience for Help Desk operations. The ITSS 1 will work in conjunction with the Help Desk student workers and full time staff to resolve unusual or unique IT related problems that may occur. The ITSS 1 will be responsible for contributions to the quality, training, and knowledge initiatives within the Help Desk. The ITSS 1 is a hands-on technical position that works on advanced technical tasks, conducts research, and other duties as required.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field with 1 year of related experience,
OR Associate’s Degree in Information Systems or related field with 2 years of related experience,
OR 4 years of related experience,
OR any equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field with 1 year of related experience, or associate degree in Information Systems or related field with 2 years of related experience, or 4 years of related experience, OR any equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Supervise and mentor a team of part-time student employees including scheduling, coaching, and training as needed.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to outages or other major incidents after-hours
• Screen, interview, and select new student employees for the Help Desk team.
• Be responsible for basic hardware and software diagnostics, troubleshooting configurations of desktop and personal computing devices to a network, as well as troubleshooting basic network connectivity.
• Conduct research into resolving unusual or unique computing problems that may occur and create knowledge articles for Help Desk staff.
• Monitor communications between the user community, Help Desk staff, departmental staff and academic technical support staff.
• Recognize campus-wide technical issues/trends and notify the appropriate UTD staff, provide Help Desk support in times of need, and update information for Help Desk staff documentation and user documentation.
• Attend meetings as needed and other duties as required.

FOR TEXAS RESIDENTS – Hybrid remote work environment available and a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement is required upon employment. Use of personal computer and other standard office equipment may be required. Must be located within the State of Texas (or Must be located within the DFW Area) and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice.
