Responsible for the development, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of Sam Noble Museum's public programs to enhance and broaden engagement with the Museum for the general public, the university community, and diverse, multi-generational audiences in the Museum, on campus, and around Oklahoma. Primary facilitator capable of conceptualizing wide-ranging, exciting, and informative public programs that consider the Sam Noble Museum’s research, collections, and exhibitions. Standard work week is Tuesday to Saturday.

Duties: 

 

  • Develop, coordinate and facilitate public programs for youth, families, adults, and seniors in Museum spaces, such as weekday, monthly, and weekend programs
  • Develop, coordinate and facilitate public programs for youth, families, adults, and seniors in the Oklahoma community (outside of Museum spaces, e.g., main campus or off campus). Perform related duties as assigned
 

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor Degree, AND:

  • 36 months of related experience.

Skills:

  • Experience in development and implementation of a diverse range of public programs, with an emphasis in museum and/or community program 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic social media skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise part-time personnel, volunteers, and interns
  • Basic experience with AV equipment
  • Energetic, positive and professional attitude
  • Attention to detail and exceptional time management skills
  • Capable of public speaking as required for leading/teaching programs
  • Must be able to interact positively and effectively with children of all ages and adults
  • Knowledge of science learning and youth development principles; computer skills such as word processing, simple graphic design, email and spreadsheet data entry.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 15-44 lbs; ability to stand for short or extended time periods of time; ability to speak including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; ability to hear including receiving detailed information orally. Ability to see including color, depth, perception, or clarity.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Museum education, science education, museum studies, communications, and/or art education experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Natural or Social Science area (e.g. biology, zoology, anthropology, geology, etc.) education (especially science education), museum studies or other related field
  • 12 months experience in project management for informal, museum, and/or community programs
  • Experience in preparation and management of operational budgets
  • Experience in monitoring effectiveness by gathering and analyzing qualitative and quantitative statistics, including attendance and other engagement metrics
  • Energetic and engaging presentation style
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing situations
  • Able to negotiate, exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to develop programs and/or arrive at decisions, conclusions, or solutions
  • Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff members, students, and volunteers
  • Able to interact positively and professionally with individuals of all ages and backgrounds

Supervision:

  • May supervise student and non-student assistants, volunteers, and interns on specific projects.
