Summary

The technician in the lab focuses on the development and maintenance of neural circuits in mouse models. As a member of the lab, the technician would provide responsible technical assistance in support of a research project by completing assignments requiring a basic knowledge of fundamental techniques and practices related to molecular biology and neuroscience. The technician will work under minimal supervision by a higher-level research staff member but be capable of managing his or her own duties and research efforts in consultation with the supervisor. Overtime may be required.

Job Duties

  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments. 
  • Assists in maintaining animal colony through breeding and genotyping.
  • Conducts dissections and tissue collections.
  • Prepares lab stocks and solutions and assists in laboratory stocking and organization
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data. 
  • Documents results of experiments. 
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment. 
  • Enters data into research database. 
  • Cleans equipment and work area.
  • Assists in the preparation of laboratory reports. 
  • Understands and analyses neural circuits
  • Conducts mouse surgeries, and handles tissue analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.
