Chatham University is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biochemistry for the 2023-24 academic year.

Chatham University is a liberal arts school located in the heart of a city renowned for excellence in higher education and biomedical innovation. Thanks to a successful transition to an all-gender institution, Chatham has more than doubled in size to more than 1200 full-time undergraduate students, while also enhancing academic qualifications and geographic diversity of the student body. The Science Department faculty have created a community of teacher-scholars who engage undergraduates in relevant and meaningful research with the aid of our student capstone requirement and departmental student Research Day. Faculty research agendas are mainly funded by the departmental budget; however, several science faculty have secured grants from National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation (including the prestigious OPUS award), Leakey Foundation, and Turkana Basin Institute for a total of funding over 1.3 million dollars. Primary responsibilities include:

Teaching general chemistry, biochemistry I & II, advanced biochemical techniques laboratory course, and other courses in the candidate's area of expertise that align with departmental teaching needs.
Develop and maintain an active research program that ideally incorporates undergraduate students.
Additional responsibilities include participation in university and department events, committees, and academic advising, as needed.

Qualifications:

Completion of a PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, or a closely related field is required. ABD-PhD candidates are encouraged to apply. Preference may be given to those individuals with college teaching and mentoring experience.
