Provides counseling services for students and faculty/staff of the University of Oklahoma. Will assist individuals dealing with addictions and substance abuse, family, parenting, marital problems, suicide, stress management, self-esteem, aging, mental and emotional health. Provides direct clinical services and patient care in accordance with skills, training and ability. Collects information from individuals through interviews, observation, and tests. Develops treatment plans, advocates for patients in team meetings, acts as liaison to community agencies on treatment plan, and coordinates the provisions of services. Coordinates activities for individual and/or group therapy or education sessions for patient. Maintains patient record confidentiality. Supervises other counselors and staff to include hiring, training, evaluating performance, and disciplinary actions. Occasional on campus outreach. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.

 

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree AND:

  • 24 months of professional Counseling experience.

Skills:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Good organizational skills
  • Experience working with college students and/or young adults

Certifications:

  • Ability to obtain professional license in 18 months of hire.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Might need to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to engage in repetitive motions; grasp objects with fingers or hands; communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Current licensure
  • Previous Experience in college counseling center
  • Master's in Counseling or Social Work

Supervision: May supervise 1-2 practicum students.
