Summary

A full time research coordinator II position for grant-funded studies on family and environmental influences on children’s physical activity and screen media use. The position includes assisting the Principal Investigator and Project Manager on two projects: 1) clinical trial of an obesity prevention program for Hispanic fathers and their children and 2) community studies for assessing children's screen media use. The position requires skills in communicating, recruiting and data collection, as well as excellent organizational skills.

Job Duties

  • Attend and pass BCM certified training on HIPAA and human subject research and consent procedures.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management and coordinating of the research database and communication database for the clinical trial.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management and coordination of the community study of children's screen media use.
  • Oversee other research staff with recruiting, informing and families in studies.
  • Obtain written informed consent for participants in the study.
  • Coordinate communication with investigators in core labs at the CNRC who are helping with the study
  • Schedule qualified participants and help with data collection activities in a laboratory observation and community studies, including in-home data collection.
  • Assist in qualitative data collection with participants, such as interviews and focus groups.
  • Create databases in Access to administer and manage projects.
  • Create REDCAP surveys and help monitor, maintain, verify, and keep current participant data in Access and REDCAP. Assist in developing and maintaining the IRB protocol of the studies.
  • Maintain records of data collection (screening, demographic files, home visits).
  • Provide project manager and principal investigator with reports on study progress, data forms, data collection, intervention implementation and contacts, as requested.
  • Attend project meetings.
  • Assist with administrative duties of research study such as audit preparation, assisting in preparing the study reports, monetary disbursements, and organizing participant files.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in a health science area.
  • Trained in Human Subjects Research (CITI training)
  • Experience in setting up a REDCap database and entering data in REDCap
  • Experience in setting up and implementing the Mosio texting platform for research participants
  • Experience and training in obtaining informed written consent for research participants
  • Experience in developing CONSORT diagrams for participant enrollment in clinical trial
