The Scott Department of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX is seeking a Research Coordinator II. We are located within the largest medical center globally and provide:

This position aids in the day-to-day vital operations of Dr. Khera's research program. This individual is responsible for conducting research study visits in collaboration with other research faculty and staff members. 

This position may be eligible for a 4-40 or hybrid 1-day schedule.

Job Duties

  • Interviews, screens and recruits patients for research. 
  • Describes the process and procedure for educating participants in research studies. 
  • Collects patient information and processes study documents and enter the information in the database. 
  • Performs vein puncture (blood sampling), EKG / ECG, and obtains vital signs of research participants. 
  • Collects blood and/or biological samples and processes, ships, and stores them according to the procedures outlined in the research protocol. 
  • Undergoes on-the-job training in phlebotomy and EKG / ECG before conducting on study participants.
  • Manages study records and assists PI in submitting reports to regulatory agencies for research. 
  • Schedules study participants for tests and procedures such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and other studies that are specific to the study protocol. 
  • Obtains test results and sends them to the appropriate parties. 
  • Corresponds with study patients throughout the study. 
  • Orders materials and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as a part of a team.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and standard clinical procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for a short period and capable of standing for extended periods of time.
  • Other languages is an asset.
