Summary

The staff scientist will be a part of the Integrated Microscopy Core (IMC), a college-wide core facility that helps users on many light microscopy techniques. Specifically, the staff scientist will be in charge of the high throughput microscopy and robotics components of the IMC, helping users with experimental design, implementation, imaging and data handling. Good communication skills, capable of working in teams and reporting data to larger groups is essential. Prior experience with cell culture techniques and imaging/robotics is preferred, however training is available.

Job Duties

  • Experimental Design
  • Optimize and develop high throughput assays and assist users in designing proper experiments imaging
  • Utilize the imaging resources available in the IMC for experimental needs data handling
  • Organize high throughput data, provide them to users and to informatics team data reporting
  • Synthesize and present results to team and users instrument maintenance
  • Make sure instrumentation is functional and perform calibrations when needed ordering
  • Assist in ordering supplies billing
  • Use the core iLab software to track instrument usage and bill users
  • Help with day-to-day core operations as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree. Experience may not be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Three years of post doctoral research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in biological sciences or bioengineering
  • Experience with imaging and robotics preferred
  • Capable of working in teams, reporting results and optimizing protocols
  • Academic experience
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills are absolutely essential
