Summary

Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Coordinator to join the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support for clinical research and the pediatric genetics inpatient consultation service.  The candidate will schedule patient appointments for office visits, tests, or procedures, while managing and coordinating patient referrals. 

Job Duties

  • Enters and maintains patient records. 
  • Consents patients for genetic testing and clinical research enrollment. 
  • Attends various patient appointments and procedures. 
  • Obtains proper paperwork for patient care. 
  • Corresponds with patients. 
  • Reviews referral data and ensures all referral loops are being closed in an effective and timely manner (via follow-up communication, study enrollment, scheduling, etc.). 
  • Provides administrative support for physicians. 
  • Follows up with enrolled research patients.   
  • Tracks the future research visits and research procedures for enrolled participants. 
  • Schedules research patients for visits.
  • Enters data on NIH RDCRN’s REDCAP database.
  • Facilitates collection of parental samples. 
  • Obtains records request.
  • Scans and completes paperwork.  
  • Inputs disposition forms into consult database. 
  • Follows up on parental samples for WES/WGS 
  • Monitors pending results to help facilitate outpatient follow-up appointments 

Minimum Qualifications

  •  High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters  degree  preferred in Science. 
  • Prior experience in a clinic. 
  • Familiar with Medical Terminology.
