Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Fayetteville State University has established an endowed chair for a Distinguished Professor of Economics that is housed in the Broadwell College of Business and Economics (BCBE).
BCBE and the Department of Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and Fire and Emergency Services Administration (MMEF) at Fayetteville State University are seeking to hire a leading and outstanding scholar with Supply Chain Management credentials to serve as Distinguished Professor of Economics and to help build the new Supply Chain Management program in the MMEF department. The anticipated start date is Fall 2023.

As a Distinguished Professor of Economics, the ideal candidate will be eligible for appointment to the rank of full, tenured professor, and will have demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, community engagement, and program management.
Description of Work Continued:
Key responsibilities will include:

Teaching, mostly at the undergraduate level, but also possibly at the graduate level as needed.
Contribute to the strategic initiatives of the college, be active in university and community service consistent with the mission of Fayetteville State University.
Collaborating with the BCBE’ internal and external stakeholders in the development and delivery of signature curricular and co-curricular applied learning experiences for degree and nondegree programs; lead undergraduate and graduate student experiences that enable a deeper understanding of the issues and barriers to economic success.
In partnership with internal and external stakeholders, assure the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, successfully integrates its external network with Fayetteville State’s curricular and co-curricular programs and activities to foster student development and success as innovators and entrepreneurs.
The ideal candidate will have a leading role in helping build and establish the new Supply Chain Management program in the MMEF department. Also, he will be the catalyst for new external partnerships that accelerate economic development through innovation by identifying, initiating, and advancing collaborative opportunities with local, regional and statewide groups.
Conduct student-led research and publish research articles in high-quality academic journals.
Engage in research, grant writing, consulting, and training activities while maintaining a productive program of scholarship in technology-infused business education.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
The successful candidate must have a track record of industry and/or academic thought leadership, and a solid record of scholarly accomplishments and publications in top-tier journals. The candidate must have a doctorate in Economics from an accredited institution of higher learning, with emphasis or experience in Supply Chain Management. Dual degrees in Economics and Supply Chain Management would be a plus. Demonstrated success in high-quality teaching, corporate learning and community outreach is expected.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working as a Supply Chain Manager or Logistics Manager, or working with organizations and/or entrepreneurs, specifically experience in analyzing logistics data to refine the supply chain, negotiating business relationships and communicating with suppliers and distributors, is preferred. Experience working as a consultant in Supply Chain is preferred and international experience is desired.
