Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge?  Do you have a background in tropical meteorology, dynamical meteorology, weather forecasting, convection, climate and weather model evaluation, or a related field?  Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities and gain teaching experience in an international context?

As part of the Climate for Science Services Partnership (WCSSP) Southeast Asia project called FORecasting for SouthEast Asia (FORSEA), funded through the Met Office Newton Fund, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a postdoctoral researcher to use analyse convective-scale and global-scale Met Office Unified Model (MetUM) ensemble simulations and observations for selected weather systems over Southeast Asia, and to assist the project team in putting together a handbook on tropical meteorology for Southeast Asia.

Supervised by Dr Juliane Schwendike, Professor Doug Parker and Dr Andrew Ross, you will analyse MetUM data and produce plots that will be used in the handbook on tropical meteorology for Southeast Asia. You will contribute original research to be published in this unique book, which we intend to become a standard reference for the region. You will also have the opportunity to work directly with Southeast Asian forecasters.
