Job Description

Summary

The Herman lab research interests range from the fundamental basic molecular mechanisms of transcription and replication fidelity, stress responses, and the evolution of antibiotic resistance. More recently, we have developed new strategies to fight against antibiotic resistance.  We employ genetic, molecular, functional genomics, CRISPR-based next-generation sequencing-based screens, and accurate RNA sequencing (Arc-Seq) to tackle these issues. The lab is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate with relevant experience in microbiology, genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, or relevant fields.
 

Job Duties

  • Plans, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
  • Contributes to grant writing.
  • Writes manuscripts.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
  • Summarizes research findings and publishes results in research journals. 
  • Supervises research staff and desires to work with students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in molecular biology, bacterial genetics, or experience with microorganisms
  • Experience with sequencing approaches
